Greetings, All!! Many of you may already be aware that nominations have begun for the 2025 BestMicrofiction Anthology published by Pelekinesis. For those not familiar with the prize, here's an excerpt from the BestMicrofiction website about the award and this year’s judges:
“We are pleased to say that Best Microfiction 2025 will be published by Pelekinesis in the summer of 2025. The Best Microfiction anthology series considers stories of only 400 words or fewer. Co-edited by award-winning microfiction writer/editor Meg Pokrass, and Flannery O’Connor Prize-winning author Gary Fincke, the anthology will have Dawn Raffel serve as final judge.”
Based upon the pieces chosen for the 2024 Anthology, it seems ~100 pieces are chosen for print.
Editors are allowed 5 nominations. As with The Pushcart Prize, it was not an easy task. So, I left it up to the readers of Micromance Magazine and chose the 5 top performing Sweet Nothings based on Substack’s stats - likes, views, reader engagement…. The Sweet Nothings Category (75-100 words) is the least submitted to on Micromance, but is my favorite. As an avid dabbler in the drabble, it is where my heart is when it comes to writing, and I wish we received more submissions to this category. Maybe once some of Micromance’s contributors wind up in the anthology (and I'm confident someone will), that will change and more microfictionists will delve into romance!!
But enough of all that …. On to what everyone is waiting for - the nominations….
Drum roll please…
Micromance Magazine's 2025 BestMicrofiction nominees are, in no particular order…
Congratulations 🥳🎉👏🏼 to you all!! And I hope everyone joins in wishing them all the best of luck!! And if you missed reading any of these little stories, I highly recommend going back and doing so. They are fine examples of how 100 word stories are written.
Stay Tuned…
Tomorrow, nominations for The Best Small Fictions Anthology will be announced…. 😃
Congratulations, once again, to our fabulous microfictionists… and thank you to everyone who supports Micromance and it's contributors…
Think happy thoughts,
Gail Lynn 🥰
Congratulations!!!
Just reread all the nominated stories - great choices! I do have a personal favourite on the list, but will keep that to myself (plus fingers crossed) for now...
Good luck everyone!
