Bookworm Beauties
A sweet tribute to the ladies who get lost in the pages, immersed in their imaginations... by Sam Hendrian
I’d like to raise a toast to all those bookworm beauties,
Girls with glasses sitting on a park bench
Telling themselves they’ll just read one more page
Which then turns into three more chapters.
They make it look so easy
To get lost in another world,
To step into someone else’s shoes
And stay there for a while.
Thinking thinking thinking
Sinking sinking sinking
Down below the shoreline
Where whale songs serenade the starfish.
In a constant state of dreaming,
In a constant state of doing,
Taking in then taking out
What doesn’t fit their vision.
I’d go up and say hello
But I don’t want to interrupt them
So I take out a page of my own
And write this poem about them.
I really enjoyed this one!
I like this poem!!! It would be a great performance piece as well!
