I run to Ronnie’s, hoping to make it in time to talk with the cute pastry chef I’ve been crushing on for months and buy my favorite Friday snack: a turtle cheesecake. It’s delicious.
Marcel is, too.
Seconds left, I step inside, and sigh. Charming Marcel is nowhere in sight and the dessert case is empty.
Shoulders slumped, I turn to leave when the kitchen door squeaks open. I twist back around, and my jaw drops. Marcel holds a rose in one hand and a turtle cheesecake in the other. On the dessert it says, Will you be my Valentine?
