She loved picking chestnuts. As every year, when the time was right, she went to her favorite place – a small, rarely frequented street near the cemetery lined with huge chestnut trees – in search of green husks hidden in the grass.
As she walked with her eyes fixed on the ground, looking for brown marbles, she felt a sudden blow to the head. Stunned, she looked up to see an equally astonished boy. He ran his fingers through the strands of brown hair that had fallen over his forehead and smiled shyly.
They both mumbled an apology. It turned out that he also loved picking chestnuts.
The next day they searched for them together.

With a smile on her face, she watched thoughtfully as her husband helped their daughter build chestnut figures. Looking at a family of three made of chestnuts and matches standing on the table, she thought it was a perfect picture of themselves. After all, they wouldn’t exist as a family if it wasn’t for their passion for picking chestnuts.
