I read your words, they danced like light,
Each verse a whisper, soft and bright.
With every line, my heart would race,
Yet I knew not the poet’s face.
***
In class, we’d sit, side by side,
You’d speak of math, I’d smile and hide.
You were my partner, nothing more—
Or so I thought, as days would soar.
***
The poet’s voice, I longed to know,
The one who set my heart aglow.
I followed each new word they’d weave,
Their tender lines, too sweet to leave.
***
Then one day, a twist of fate,
I found your notebook, small and late.
The words I loved were written there—
The poet I adored was surely near.
***
I looked at you, my heart in flight,
“You wrote these poems?” Eyes so bright.
You smiled, your cheeks a rosy hue,
“I wrote them all, just thinking of you.”
***
Our secret out, no more disguise,
You spoke the words with shining eyes.
I whispered softly, clear and true,
“I love you too… I’ve always loved you.”
