How's Your New Year Going?
Hey there, lovers of reading, lovers of writing and just plain lovers 🤭… So, how's 2025 treating everyone so far? I know of a couple people in the writing community who have been affected by the hell that has taken place in California…thoughts and prayers are with them, and I hope no one directly associated with Micromance has been affected!
But what about you? How many acceptances have you received this year so far? How many submissions have you already put out there?
Being EIC takes up most of my literary time, but I do still love to write, even if I don't do it as often as I'd like. Which means I don't submit as often. However, a couple opportunities popped up in the first days of the year that I couldn't resist, and so I submitted a handful of haiku to Literary Revelations’ call for their Tranquility Haiku Anthology (I was fortunate enough to be included in last year's Petals of Haiku anthology, so fingers crossed), and I submitted some steamy poems to Prairie Home's Valentine's Day “smut” call… my poems aren't quite what I'd call smut, but they are on the spicier side - for me, anyway - so we’ll see if Prairie Home thinks they're “erotic” enough…🫣🤭…and for anyone here interested, check out Prairie Home's call. I don't accept erotica/smut, but if you have some such poetry or want to give it a try, check them out. Their call closes Feb 4th.
And now some Micromance News…
Well, we're having an awesome 2025 thus far, seeing the best stats we've ever seen. 435 subscribers, 500 followers… an elevated 30-day views stat… from Jan 1 until yesterday, we've been averaging 516 views a day! As of today, I've received 40 submissions from writers of all literary backgrounds. Our one year anniversary anthology, “One Year Later…’ has received a handful of subs - subs close March 1, so there's still a little time.
Update about our poetry anthology - it's still on track for a March release. Pre-order info coming soon!
Judging for The Cupid Prize is underway. Half the judges have already turned in their decisions… and my lips are sealed 🤐…but I get to have a a head start on creating the downloadable prize certificates…
Oh! And don't forget about KissMet Quarterly - it's now listed on Duotrope as a project of Micromance Magazine. Submissions for the Spring Issue are open until Jan 31. I've received several subs so far abd have a had s great response to the call in general… so don't hesitate to submit - especially any of you cozy mystery/romantic suspense writers…

Well, I guess that's about it for now. Just wanted to check in with a few updates and just say hi to everybody! Oh, and if you've submitted between October and now, publication dates are coming! The writing part of my brain packed its bags and did a midnight flit around mid-December 2024. I haven't been able to write anything coherent since then...
Thankfully got accepted in Micromance and submitted to an anthology received a few rejections but it's all for my growth.
I wonder if I didn't received first acceptance from micromance I would have not know this fun because I had already wrapped writing journey then .
I'm thankful to Micromance and all my growth is thanks to micromance
