I have submitted this poem to several sub calls over the last year or so, only to have it met time and again with rejection - tonight was no different when I received the email from Prairie Home that they enjoyed my poetry, but weren't going to use it in their special Valentine's Day edition… they went on to say they hope the piece finds the perfect home in another publication… well, I guess there's no better publication than my own romantic one, huh? Lol… so here it is - Intersection of Oak & Vine… hope you enjoy it and don't share the same consensus of about 5 other editors…lol…
Intersection of Oak & Vine
Like the vine that climbs a tree
reaches the branches
and becomes entwined,
make love to me
as the Oak does the Ivy.
•••
Tangle your body with mine,
braid our limbs together
•••
–hard with supple,
soft with rugged–
•••
and like the nimble Ivy
grasping the hardened Oak,
let's cling tightly to each other
•••
–press your sturdy wood
against my delicate blooms–
•••
and make love to me slowly
as the Oak does the Ivy.

Is it suddenly hot in here? Very nice.
It's lovely - and I would say it has found its perfect home here with us!
