Lucy was seventy one, sunburnt and sleepy when she met George. He came across her mid- browse in the Bristol Central Library, right when she was running her hands over the well-worn spine of E. M. Forster’s A Room with a View. “You found my favourite book,” he whispered, winking mischievously. She took in his old-fashioned suit and the trilby he tipped in her direction, caught the warmth in his curious gaze. “George,” he smiled, holding his hand out. “Lucy,” she grinned, taking it. Delight danced between them. “Well then Lucy,” George grinned, “shall we be off to Italy?”
