Subsong
By Karina Longo
I often longed for declarations
But the noise of passion is
Too violent, like a storm.
Now I see, I can hear you whispering
Your quiet words lure me into deep sleep.

Even in dim light, it’s clear, I understand
My eyes are wide open when they close.
I feel your touch through gentle intent,
Your lips move close up to my ear.

“It’s all a dream in our minds,
But it’s all a dream that we dream together”,
That’s what you said –
Our subsong forever instilled in my head.
