What is The Haikuist?
The Haikuist is a new and exciting sister project to Micromance Magazine that sets out to highlight romance in poetry, specifically in the form of haiku.
The Haikuist is a quarterly anthology (print & ebook) that features only 5-7-5 haiku with a romantic twist, meaning they must have some nod to love, romance, longing for someone, etc., along with being intertwined with nature.
Writers are encouraged to submit 3 - 5 haiku that work together to tell a story or somehow compliment each other. For example, haiku 1 speaks of Spring and new beginnings and haiku 2 tells how “she” is like the petals in the garden, while haiku 3 explains the longing, the loving, the emotions. Or all could have some mixture of love and nature - just be sure all 3/5 compliment each other/flow in the creation of a “bigger picture.”
Guidelines:
Submit 3-5 haiku (all will be accepted or rejected)
NO TITLES for haiku
Haiku MUST BE 5-7-5
Haiku MUST meet the theme - Love (not necessary, but bonus for keeping nature parts seasonal)
Include haiku in body of email ONLY…NO attachments, please.
Include short 3rd person bio in body of email FOLLOWING/BELOW haiku...HAIKU WILL BE CREDITED TO THE NAME USED IN BIO. Please be certain correct name/pen name is included. Bios are copy and pasted and will be printed as sent.

Author’s Rights:
Authors will retain the publishing rights to their individual submitted pieces, but please refrain from publishing piece anywhere else within 3 months of publication in The Haikuist. The Haikuist/MM Publishing will retain the rights to each published issue of The Haikuist Anthology for perpetuity.
Currently, we are not a paying market (we do offer discounted contributor copies to U.S. writers and low cost ebooks to whoever prefers that format), but we offer exposure and publicity through social media promotions and Micromance Magazine newsletters (sent out to over 1,200 inboxes). Haiku accepted for The Haikuist may be used by The Haikuist and its representatives (MM Publishing, Micromance Magazine; G. Lynn Brown, EIC; etc ) in whole or in part to promote The Haikuist on social media and/or merch. Authors will be appropriately credited in all promotional materials.
