The Right One

“No filter can fix that face.” Brett took shot after shot, trying to capture the perfect one for Lucy’s profile. The snaggletooth. The mustache. The wonky eye that drifted to the left. Lucy was a sweet girl, but no amount of lipstick would be enough to slather on this particular pig.
“Maybe a hat?” Brett turned and saw a redhead standing under the “Senior Dog Adoption” sign. She took a beret out of her bag, placed it on Lucy and smiled as it tilted precariously to the left. “Awww, look—she’s perfect!”
“Yes,” Brett nodded. “She is.”
