Together
By Cithara Patra
Hands intertwined
As we walk without taking breaks
Her arm brushes mine
Her warmth radiates off her body
And wraps itself around me
🩷🩷🩷
Two hearts, beating fast
Two sets of lungs breathing in and out
The wind blows in our faces while she
Buries her face into my shoulder
I breathe in her thick curls
I’m lost in her scent, lavender and vanilla
The cheap perfume of sunflowers and pine needles
Fills up the room as I inhale and take it in
Her body against mine
Is all I want
🩷🩷🩷
She and I, eye to eye
Lost in the moments
We make with each other
During bad days,
Long weeks,
She and I will be
Each other’s shelter
When the storm beats us down
United we’ll stand
United we’ll make it through
🩷🩷🩷
Together, we’ll spend our nights
Walking down sidewalks
Covering each other
Through storms and sun, snow and sleet
Over cracked pavements and gravel roads
Arm in arm, soul to soul
Together, we’ll conquer our fears
In a world that doesn’t get us
A world changing before us
One that’ll never accept us
And we have to believe that,
All we’re enduring lasts forever.
This is forever.
🩷🩷🩷
Together, we’ll go through it
Together, she and I
Will survive
