Welcome, Ladies and Gentlemen, to the 2025 Cupid Prize Award Ceremony. As most of you know, The Cupid Prize is a brand new prize anthology founded by the EIC of Micromance Magazine, Gail Lynn Brown, to further uplift writers of both romance and flash fiction and, specifically, flash romance.

Before we go on, let's thank the wonderful judges who stepped up to take on the difficult task of choosing a winner in each category.

Special Recognition

Cupid approached Gail and told her he wanted to honor a couple special contributors for the way they not only inspired him, but clearly touched so many readers by becoming the most read writers published in Micromance in 2024.

From her well-written, perfectly sweet romances to his utterly swoon-worthy poetry, Cupid demanded that Katie Fitzgerald and Ash Douglas receive the special honor of receiving The Inspiring Excellence in Love Lit Award for both keeping Cupid motivated in his job and reminding hundreds of readers that there's always another shot to find love, romance is not dead and sometimes it’s okay to be a little daring in love (and lust).

Congratulations to you both!! You should be very proud and very humbled! This is both a great achievement and a great honor!

Our first category to be announced is Poetry. This was a highly competitive category, and, for me, would have been the most difficult to judge. How Nina Miller made a decision, I don't know.

Congratulations, Ash!! 🥳 🎉 👏🏼🍾🥂 💕 Not only are you Micromance Magazine's Top Poet, you are also Love Literature's Most Excellent Poet! I think that calls for another round of applause 👏🏼 and another bubbly toast 🍾🥂!!

And we do know a little about how Nina reached her decision:

Ash's poem "Love Is…" took my breath away. It really did encapsulate for me the feeling of being utterly in love. The romantic in me felt his sentiments deeply, like an arrow to the heart. Is it no wonder it is deserving of the cupid prize.

No, it's no wonder. I also felt the quiver of Cupid's arrow the first time I read “Love Is…,” and being that “Love Is…” held the “#2 top poem” spot for 4+ months and is still holding strong as the third most popular poem in Micromance Magazine means that that arrow pierced a lot of fluttering hearts…Congratulations, Mr. Douglas - Cupid's Poet Laureate! 💘
