A Man Who Chases Butterflies
Oh, that elusive butterfly of love... a sweet meet story by the ever-emerging talent of Iqra Abbas...
I was running behind a butterfly, and I didn’t realise that I came far away from the crowd. My long hair constantly kept hindering me. I crashed into a boy who was also chasing the butterfly.
It was my first time seeing this grown man chasing butterflies. He got flustered by my presence and tried to hide the fact that he was chasing butterflies.
I was still looking at his face that looked normal. A butterfly passed through us and a smile appeared on his face. It was also the first time I realised that a normal face could look this beautiful with a smile.
He extended his hand to chase the butterfly but realised my presence and stood still. I held his hand and ran toward the butterfly that flew to one side. I let go of his hand while running. Our laughter made the distant voices in the park imperceptible. The butterfly flew through the sunflower plants and we were unable to chase it anymore.
I looked at him and he was still smiling.
“I am Shani. What is your name?” I asked.
“ Zoran.”
“You have got a charming smile.”
“Is that supposed to be flirting?”
“Why? Can’t I? Or is there a reason that I shouldn’t?”
“ No, you can.”
I placed my right hand, in which I was holding roses, on his shoulder and kissed him.
Sweet!
