Categories:
• Sweet Nothings: 100 words stories…exactly 100 words, not including title. Stories must be stories, not prose poetry. Think of it as capturing a small moment in time with a start, middle and ending.
• Quickies: Flash fiction 101-500 words
• Short & Sweet: Flash fiction 500-1200 words
• Poetry: Any length. No special formatting allowed - left justified only. ONE poem only submitted at a time
Guidelines:
• Times New Roman 12pt. font
• Double spaced
• Section breaks should be marked by * * *
• In the header of your document, please include ONLY your name and the title and word count for your story.
• Avoid elaborate formatting.
• Please DO NOT include additional information in the header - this means addresses, phone numbers and author bios. Simplifying your submissions helps us respond more quickly.
• ATTACH your story of no more than 1200 words in .doc/.docx format. The file name should include your last name.
• Please make the subject of your email your story title.
• NO SIMULTANEOUS SUBMISSIONS
•NO EROTICA
• Editor(s) will proofread and check for typos, but stories should be properly edited and ready for publication
• Please include a short author bio, (100 words max; 3rd person) in the body of the email
• Writers are allowed one entry per category per month (maximum 4 pieces [1 of each category])
• Failure to follow any of these basic guidelines will result in automatic rejection
Terms & Conditions
By having your story/poem accepted to, and published by, Micromance Magazine, you are granting us first publication and non-exclusive rights, but you, the writer, still own your work. The copyright always remains with the author. First publication rights grant us a 60-day period from date of publication wherein the work is not published elsewhere. Non-Exclusive rights allow us to publish your wonderful work on our online platforms, social media channels, audio, digital, and/or print publications, promotional materials (audio, digital, and/or print), and archives to help further promote your work. If later published elsewhere, we ask you to please give credit to Micromance Magazine as the source of first publication.
